          William Pitt's Biography

          British nobility, the First Earl of Chatham. In 1735 he entered the House of Commons after schooling in Eton and Trinity college. A relatively poor dependent of a powerful clan, he became a great orator and made a brilliant political career, developing great statesmanship.
          A devoted family man, he married in 1754 and his second son (William Pitt II) later founded Pittsburgh. He was the fourth child of seven children, most of whom were known for mental instability. Pitt was ill during his latter years. He died on 11 May 1778 at Hayes, Middlesex, England.
