American meteorologist, climate scientist, and pioneer of climate modelling. He created one the earliest climate models and was one of the first scientists to recognize the effects of CO2 in the atmosphere on the earth’s climate. He published the textbook Physical Climatology (1965). As Professor Emeritus at the University of Arizona, Sellers retired in 1997. He died on 27 August 2014 at age 86 in Tucson, Arizona.
