Wilhelm Strohmayer's Biography
German psychiatrist, one of the first child psychiatrists in Germany. Initially, he wanted to study chemistry, but under Otto Binswanger undertook medical studies, which began in the winter semester of 1893/94 in Jena. In 1899 he received his doctorate in medical sciences after presenting the dissertation “Ueber Enteritis membranacea und colica mucosa”. He then practised as a medical assistant at the Binswanger Clinic in Jena. In 1906 he habilitated on psychiatry based on the work “Zur Klinik, Diagnose und Prognose der Amentia”. He died on 16 March 1936 in Jena.
