          Wilhelm Pramme's Biography

          German painter, known as one of the Harz painters and a member of the Wernigerode artists’ colony. After the Second World War, this colony was founded by various visual artists who had moved to Wernigerode.
          Pramme maintained close friendships with the painter Walter Gemm and the writer Bert Brennecke.
          Many of his works were created during his travels through Germany accompanied by Gemm and during his travels through numerous countries around the world (including Italy, Greece, Egypt, Indonesia, India and Afghanistan), which he financed through the sale of paintings.
          Wilhelm Pramme was married twice. He died in Wernigerode on 12 February 1965 at age 66. A memorial plaque was established in 1982 in the Harz National Park.
