          Wilhelm Krieger's Biography

          German sculptor.
          Wilhelm Krieger undertook an apprenticeship in Bremen as a decorative painter. He studied in 1906 and 1907 at the School of Applied Arts in Munich, and from about 1901 was self-taught as a sculptor. Two years later he was in Munich as a partner in a firm provided arts and crafts items such as tableware and jewelry. He began to devote himself to animal sculpture and was a freelancer for the Ceramic Workshops in Herrsching. In 1912 he married the art teacher and ceramic artist Emilie Butters. The couple had five children. Wilhelm Krieger died on 14 September 1945 in Herrsching.
