German astrologer, one of the first to combine astrology with homeopathy and to publish pioneering books on the subject.
He studied medicine in Cologne and obtained his doctorate in 1920, where he received homeopathic training with Prof. Jakob Leeser. He first practiced in Bad Kreuznach. Apparently he came into conflict with the National Socialists for political or racial reasons, because his doctorate was revoked in 1940; this decision was cancelled again in 1957 and retroactively declared invalid. After the war he lived first in Bad Kreuznach, later in Frankfurt and Kelkheim. In 1953 he ran for the Gesamtdeutsche Volkspartei (German People’s Party).
Wilhelm Folkert’s astrological life’s work consists in the connection of astrological thought with homeopathy. In his work Sphäron he attempted to transfer the astrological symbolism to the periodic table of the elements and thus gain new insights into astrologically oriented remedies. This work should therefore be of great interest to astro-medically oriented astrologers. Reinhold Ebertin writes: “Dr. Folkert made the remarkable observation that patients born on the same day show similar symptoms of the sun in their birth picture. The doctor made this statement on his patient file – over twenty-five thousand medical records – and Dr. Müller-Freywardt confirmed the findings according to his own file”.
