          Werner Von Fritsch's Biography

German Army Commander-In-Chief from 1933 to February 1938, a Nazi avid in his anti-Semitism.
An old school aristocrat and pro-soldier like his father, he opposed Hitler’s war program. He never disguised his hostility and contempt for Hitler and stayed “nonpolitical.” Framed by the SS as a homosexual and arrested on 24 January 1938, he was acquitted by a military court on 18 March, and recalled to his post.
He was killed mysteriously in action in Warsaw on 22 September 1939 during a campaign when he walked into a field of Polish machine-gun fire. A Polish bullet (from either a machine gun or a sharpshooter) tore an artery in his leg. He refused help and died a minute later.
