Walter LaFeber's Human Design Chart
1/4 Emotional GeneratorAmerican historian recognised as one of the United States’ most distinguished scholars of the history of U.S. foreign policy, and a leading member of the “Wisconsin School” of American diplomatic history. LaFeber is known for providing widely read revisionist histories of the Cold War with views like William Appleman Williams but more subtle; the label “moderate revisionist” has been applied to him.
He was the Andrew H. and James S. Tisch Distinguished University Professor, Emeritus in the Department of History at Cornell University. Previous to that he was the Marie Underhill Noll Professor of History and a Stephen H. Weiss Presidential Fellow at the university.
LaFeber was especially known for his teaching abilities, and for decades his undergraduate History of American Foreign Relations class gained the reputation as one of the best and most popular courses at Cornell. A number of his students have gained prominence in positions in the U.S. government and in academia. In 2006 LaFeber gave a farewell lecture before nearly 3,000 colleagues and former students at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.
LaFeber married Sandra Gould in 1955 and they had two children. He died on 9 March 2021 at an assisted living facility in Ithaca, New York. He was 87.
