His work included “Moon and Sixpence” as well as “The Razor’s Edge.” In WW I, Maugham served in the secret service and from his experience, wrote “Ashenden,” 1928. A master of the short story and comedy of manners, he also wrote his semi-autobiographical novel “Of Human Bondage” in 1915.
He died on 16 December 1965, 5 a.m., at Cap Ferrat, France.
