          Valère Novarina's Biography

          Franco-Swiss writer, playwright, director and painter.
          Novarina is the son of the architect Maurice Novarina (1907-2002) and actress Manon Trolliet. He studied philosophy and philology at the Sorbonne.
          In 1974, his first play, The flying Workshop, was directed by Jean-Pierre Sarrazac. In 1976, The National Theatre Criée Marseille staged his Falstafe, a free adaptation of Henry IV by William Shakespeare. Many of his plays were staged through the 1980s and 1990s.
          Films directed by Christine Pascal and Jean-Luc Godard have used extracts from his writings.
          He was awarded the Prix Jean Arp de littérature francophone (2011) for his entire œuvre. A tribute was paid to him in Strasbourg on 30 and 31 March 2012 on the occasion of the award ceremony under the 7th European Meeting of literature.
