          Tor Hultin's Biography

          Norwegian pianist who composed for Det Norske Teater and was a fixture at this theatre for a long time. He was an important partner for Egil Monn-Iversen and later a touring Lasse Kolstad. He married the jazz journalist Randi Hultin in 1947, and from 1953 onwards they were known for their receptions at their home in Gartneriveien by world stars of the time such as Count Basie and Dizzy Gillespie.
          Together with Ole Kristian Salater, Eilif Holm, and Jon Svendsen, he played with the world-famous Josephine Baker at Det Norske Teater in 1957. Hultin’s son “Stress” with Ola B. Johannessen, sung by Kirsti Sparboe and Odd Børre, won the Melodi Grand Prix in 1968.
          Hultin died on 7 January 2001 aged 75.
