Tomasz Jura's Biography
Polish graphic artists, the author of hundreds of posters, covers releases and huge numbers of satirical drawings.
He was a graduate of the Katowice branch of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. In 1982-85 he was dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Krakow, the Katowice branch, later head of the Department of Graphic Design. Over the years, he headed the Laboratory of Illustration and Drawing utility. He was the founder and organizer of the exhibition a number of initiatives, including International Biennial of Students’ Graphic Design – Agraf, held in Katowice.
Since the early 70s Jura was – as the author covers and illustrations – contributor to magazines such as “YOU and ME”, “project”, “Pins”, “Display”, “prospects”, “Panorama”, “Yes and No”, ” The young medic. ” He was a member and activist of many artistic associations, including the Katowice branch of the Association of Polish Artists and the Association of Polish Cartoonists SPAK, he was also a collaborator of the Katowice branch of the Association of Photographic Artists.
Jura was the author of more than 100 national and international solo exhibitions, at which he presented the drawings, posters, prints and illustrations. They honored with numerous awards, including Gold Medal of the Polish Poster Biennale in Katowice, prize them. Trepkowski, Silver Medal at the World Exhibition of Graphic Art in Berlin.
