          Tom Pittman's Biography

          American actor who died aged 26, described by the Los Angeles Times as “one of Hollywood’s most promising young actors.” His father was TV-radio actor Frank Alten. He appeared in films including The Proud Rebel (1958) with Alan Ladd, High School Big Shot (1959) and Verboten! (1959). Pittman also excelled on television in numerous classic westerns, guesting on Wagon Train, Gunsmoke, Have Gun Will Travel, Tales of Wells Fargo, and Zane Grey Theater. He died on 31 October 1958 in a car crash at Benedict Canyon, California, after leaving a Halloween party. His body was found nearly three weeks later.
