Toby Wing's Human Design Chart

1/3 Mental Projector

**Toby Wing: A Human Design Perspective**

Toby Wing, born on July 14, 1915, in Midlothian, Virginia, was an American actress and showgirl who began her onscreen career at the tender age of nine. Over the course of her career, she appeared in 52 features and shorts during the vibrant film era of the 1920s and 1930s. As a Projector in Human Design, Wing possessed a unique ability to guide and influence those around her, although she often found herself in smaller roles rather than leading parts. This reflects her Mental Authority, which emphasizes the importance of waiting for invitations before fully engaging in opportunities.

Wing’s early exposure to the film industry came from her father, who worked as an assistant director for Paramount Pictures. In 1931, she became one of the first Goldwyn Girls, marking a significant milestone in her career. Despite her impressive presence on screen and her recognition as a sex symbol, many of her roles were minor and often featured scant clothing, particularly before the 1934 Production Code was introduced.

Her Human Design profile of 1/3 suggests a natural curiosity and a desire for experiential learning, which may have driven her to explore various avenues in her career, including product endorsements and appearances in fan magazines from 1933 to 1938. Wing’s offscreen life was equally dynamic, as she was romantically linked to several notable figures, including Jackie Coogan, Maurice Chevalier, and Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr.

In 1936 and 1937, she starred alongside singer-songwriter Pinky Tomlin in low-budget musical features, showcasing her versatility. Although their engagement ended before a planned wedding, their bond remained strong until Tomlin’s passing. Wing’s last leading role was in “The Marines Come Thru,” filmed in 1938 but released in 1942 as “Fight On, Marines!” After marrying pilot Dick Merrill on October 19, 1938, she transitioned away from the film industry.

Her journey continued on Broadway in the Cole Porter musical “You Never Know,” which, despite its lack of success, allowed her to express her artistic talents. Following her marriage, Wing and Merrill settled in DiLido, Florida, where she later thrived in real estate in California and Florida. The couple eventually returned to Virginia, living together until Merrill’s death in 1982. Toby Wing passed away on March 22, 2001, at the age of 85 in Mathews, Virginia.

Wing’s Human Design, particularly her Right Angle Cross of Maya (62/61 | 42/32), highlights her ability to navigate the complexities of life with a sense of purpose and transformation. Her channels, 63-4 and 17-62, further illustrate her capacity for deep insight and understanding, allowing her to connect with others on a profound level. Toby Wing’s legacy as an actress and showgirl is enriched by her unique Human Design, revealing the intricate layers of her personality and career.
