          Tim Conway's Biography

American actor and comedian, a writer-director with Cleveland TV station before establishing himself as a comic performer on the “Steve Allen Show.” He later co-starred in the TV series “McHale’s Navy” but was most memorable in the popular TV series “The Carol Burnett Show.” Mousy and bumbling, he created many characters such as “The World’s Greatest Athlete,” 1973 and “The Billion Dollar Hobo,” 1978.
He began on local TV in Cleveland in the ’50s doing comedy spots on the station’s late movie, among other things. Comedienne Rose Marie saw him and arranged an audition for Steve Allen, which proved to be his first big break.
Conway won three Emmys as an actor and one as a writer, but never was able to carry his own show. He found his top niche with Carol Burnett as foil, protagonist and all-around comic genius.
His son, Tim Jr. is also an actor.
Conway died on 14 May 2019 at the age of 85 from complications of normal pressure hydrocephalus.
