          Suzanne Duchamp's Biography

          French Dadaist painter whose major works include Multiplication brisée et rétablie (Multiplication Broken and Restored, 1919) and Ariette d’oubli de la chapelle étourdie (Ariette of Oblivion in the Thoughtless Chapel, 1920).
          She was the fourth of six children born into the artistic family of Eugene and Lucie Duchamp. Her older brothers included painter and printmaker Jacques Villon (née Gaston Duchamp); sculptor Raymond Duchamp-Villon; and painter, sculptor and author Marcel Duchamp.
          In 1911, at age 21, she married a local pharmacist but quickly divorced. In 1919, she married artist Jean Crotti, whose painting she would greatly influence.
          She died in the 16th arrondissement of Paris on 11 September 1963, aged 73.
