          Sun Yat-Sen's Biography

          Chinese politician, elected as the first President of the Republican Government of China in 1911 and founder of the Kuomintang Dynasty. A Western-trained physician, he and his followers overthrew the Ch’ing Dynasty on 10 October 1911. Elected as the Provisional President, he took office on the Chinese New Year, 18 February 1912. He is the author of “Three Principles of the People,” in which he outlined his political philosophy.
          Sun Yat Sen died after a long illness at 9.30 AM on 12 March 1925, aged 58, in Beijing.
