American attorney and TV personality, one-time co-host of the popular daytime TV talk show, “The View.” A striking African-American woman, she was once seriously overweight.
A prosecutor, Jones started her broadcast career when she went to work for Court TV in 1991. That led to her own show that lasted only a year, 1994-95, but she subsequently was taken on as a consultant for “Inside Edition.” Finally in 1997 she landed her big break, hosting with Barbara Walters and other women, a popular daytime TV show, “The View.” But on June 27, 2006, she announced that she was leaving the program. She revealed that after much difficulty with her co-hosts, she had been fired. Several months later, March 7, 2007, she announced that she was anchoring her own talk show back on Court TV. The assignment didn’t last long, however.
Jones’ weight had blossomed in her adult years. After she was seen having lost a lot of weight, she confessed in June 2007 that she had undergone gastric bypass surgery in August 2003. She has lost about 160 pounds.
On November 13, 2004, amidst much publicity, Jones married Al Reynolds, an investment banker. Fewer than four years later, she filed for divorce.
