          Stan Wawrinka's Biography

Swiss professional tennis player, nicknamed ‘Stan The Man’ or ‘Stanimal,’ born to a German father of Polish descent and a Swiss mother, and thus holding dual Swiss–German citizenship. He became a film producer and occasional actor in 2021.
He won the 2014 Australian Open, defeating Nadal (4 sets) who was injured in the 2nd set, and then was ranked 3rd in the world on 27 January 2014. On 20 April 2014, he won the Monte-Carlo Open, defeating Federer with whom he won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics.
Wawrinka considers clay his best and favourite surface and his serve and backhand his best shots. John McEnroe once said that Wawrinka has one of the most powerful backhands ever, and in 2009 described him as having “the best one-handed backhand in the game.”
