          Sister Louise-Marie's Biography

          Belgian religious figure, she became Sister Louise-Marie on 16 April 1918. On 23 August 1944, as Mother Superior of the convent of Lasnea, she agreed to host several dozen children from the neighbouring Jewish orphanage for the night. Martin Benzen, the administrative director of the home, and his wife Paule Bourguignon, then took the children to other hiding places organized by the Resistance. She died on 8 December 1980 in Lasne at age 84. On 8 December 1998, she was posthumously awarded the medal and diploma of Righteous Among the Nations.
