          Siegfried Oberndorfer's Biography

          German physician and pathologist who introduced the medical term carcinoid (German: Karzinoide) in 1907, this term still being in use today. Oberndorfer studied medicine in Munich and Kiel and earned his PhD in 1900 in Munich. He was habilitated in pathological anatomy in 1906 also in Munich. From 1910 he was the head of the Pathology Department of the hospital in Munich-Schwabing. He died on 1 March 1944 in Istanbul, Turkey, aged 67.
