American professional astrologer, teacher, lecturer, and writer based in New York City, she is also Education Director of the National Council for Geocosmic Research – Professional Astrologers’ Alliance (NCGR-PAA) since its inception in 2009. Prior to that, from 2004-2009, she was Education Co-Director, then full Director of NCGR. Soffer has been involved in organizational work in astrology in various capacities since 2001.
She married in 1954 and had two children, while working in various jobs in publishing. She also worked in dance, film, and theatre from 1970-76. When her marriage ended in 1977, she was employed as Publicity Director for a major publishing company, writing press releases and managing conferences geared to librarians. She left in 1983 to pursue her interest in writing, but astrology captured her heart and she began studying intensively, becoming a certified astrologer in 1993 and opening her professional practice. In her work, she draws from the teachings of Carl G. Jung by integrating psychology, mythology, and dreams with astrology’s rich symbolism. To enhance these skills, she participated for five years (1995-2000) in the Jung Center’s Professional Training Seminars, a series of courses of study geared to those in the helping professions.
Her book, “The Astrology Sourcebook: Your Guide to Understanding the Symbolic Language of the Stars,” was originally published in 1998. It went out-of-print by McGraw-Hill Publishing Company in 2008. In 2010, she updated, revised, and reissued her book independently, where it is now available from the author or on the www.amazon.com website.
