          Sergio Sergi's Biography

Italian anthropologist well-known for his important studies concerning craniometry, which laid the basis for the Craniography and Craniometry of the first paleanthropo of Saccopastore (in “Morfology Research”, XX-XXI, 1943). According to his research he could establish the exact location of an important group of human fossils, which he named Paleantrops, attributed to the average Pleistocene.
He invented several precision instruments to bring back the anatomical measurements, which can be considered as the forerunner of modern geometric approaches to morphology.
The son of anthropologist Giuseppe Sergi, he collaborated with his father and from 1916 he held the Anthropology Chair at the University of Rome, where he headed the Anthropology Magazine.
He died on 22 June 1972 in Rome.
