          Robert Römer's Biography

          German legal scientist, legal author and politician, also noted as the son of the politician Friedrich von Römer.
          He taught Roman law and private law in Württemberg. Between 1871 and 1879 he was a judge at the Reichsoberhandelsgericht in Leipzig.
          Between 1864 and 1871 he was the successor to his father as a member of the state parliament for the Geislingen area in the second chamber of the Württemberg state. He was a co-founder and a leading politician of the German party in Württemberg.
          In the first two terms from 1871 to 1877, Römer was a member of the Reichstag for the constituency Württemberg 14 (Ulm, Heidenheim, Geislingen). He did not join any factions, but remained an independent liberal.
          He suffered a stroke on 30 November 1878, and died in Stuttgart on 28 October 1879 at age 56.
