          Robert Proust's Biography

          French surgeon, the son of Jeanne Weil and Professor Adrien Proust, and the younger brother of Marcel Proust.
          In 1919, he was head of the surgery department at Tenon Hospital, involved in the treatment of cancerous tumours in association with Lucien Mallet.
          On the death of Marcel Proust in 1922, Robert Proust supported the publication of volumes of his work that were not yet published, along with Jacques Rivière and Jean Paulhan.
          Robert Proust married Marthe Dubois-Amiot (1878-1953). They had one child: Adrienne, called “Suzy” (1903-1986) who married Gérard Mante (1891-1947), son of Louis Mante and Juliette Rostand (sister of Edmond Rostand). The couple have three children: Patrice (father of Patricia Mante-Proust, born in 1975), Dominique, and Marie-Claude who married Claude Mauriac.
          Robert Proust died on 29 May 1935 in Paris.
