Robert Hermann Tillmanns's Biography
German surgeon considered one of the founders of paediatric surgery. He worked simultaneously at the pathological, anatomical and physiological institute in Leipzig, where he dealt in particular with the construction and function of the joints. He also worked as a paediatric surgeon at the Children’s Hospital in Leipzig. From 1874 to 1879 Tillmanns co-published together with Max Scheede and L. Lesser, the Zentralblatt für Chirurgie. He wrote the three-volume textbook of general and special surgery, which appeared from 1888 to 1890 in a total of 12 editions. He died on 5 November 1927 in Leipzig, aged 83.
