          Robert Heck's Biography

          German portrait and genre painter whose painting Empfang eines neuen Pfarrers durch seine Gemeinde im Schwarzwald (Reception of a new pastor by his parish community in the Black Forest), was presented abroad by the Kingdom of Württemberg at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1867.
          Robert Heck studied at the Stuttgart Art School under Heinrich von Rustige. He often exhibited his paintings at major German art exhibitions and some of his works were held by royalty. Study trips took him to southern France and Italy. He was commissioned to paint portraits of Karl Joseph Hefele and Karl Georg von Wächter for the Tübingen Professor gallery.
          Robert Heck died in Stuttgart on 11 November 1889 at age 58.
