          Richie Hebner's Biography

          American pro baseball player, he played on five teams from 1968-1985. .In 1969, he led the National League rookies with a .301 average and hit a career-high 25 home runs for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1973 as a third baseman. He stayed with the Pirates for seven years, during which the team won five division championships. He spent the next two seasons playing first base with the Philadelphia Phillies In 1979, he joined the Mets; the following year he was swapped to the Tigers where he achieved a career-high of 82 RBI in 104 games in 1980. After a second tour with the Pirates, he became the top pinch hitter for the division-winning 1984 Cubs.
