          Richard Tingler's Biography

          American homicide; a serial killer of at least seven people.
          Born out of wedlock, he was beaten often by his mom and grew into a quiet, antisocial kid. While barely out of his teens he was convicted of burglary, larceny and breaking and entering, and was sentenced to federal prison in July 1959. He was released 2/08/1961. He was again arrested in August 1961 for breaking and entering and given 15 years in the state penitentiary. He was paroled in three years, returning to society in August 1964.
          On 9/16/1968 Tingler shot four people through the head. He robbed a store on 10/20/1968 and brutally beat and shot two youngsters in the head, leaving a woman for dead after strangling her with a wire.
          Hitchhiking west, Tingler was picked up by a man on 4/27/1969 in Gilman, IL. He shot the man to death and stole the car.
          On 11/20/1968, he was put on the FBI’s Most Wanted list. He was apprehended on 5/19/1969 and taken to trial, where he was convicted and sentenced to death.
          At the last report, he was still on death row.
