          Richard Matheson's Biography

          American science-fiction and fantasy writer who first appeared on the sci-fi scene with “Born Of Man And Woman,” 1950. He was a frequent contributor to “Galaxy” and other popular magazines and during the ’60s, was a Hollywood scriptwriter. His scripts included “The Shrinking Man.” At the 1958 World Sci-Fi Convention in Los Angeles, CA. he was the Guest of Honor.
          He is best known as the author of “I Am Legend,” a 1954 horror novel that has been adapted for the screen four times, as well as the movie “Somewhere In Time” for which Matheson wrote the screenplay, based on his novel “Bid Time Return.” Matheson also wrote 16 television episodes of The Twilight Zone for Rod Serling, including “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet” and “Steel.”
          Matheson died on 23 June 2013 at his home in Los Angeles, California, aged 87.
