          Richard Linsert's Biography

German clerk, communist and sexual reformer who wrote or co-wrote several books.
Linsert grew up in Munich and completed a commercial apprenticeship there. He became a member of the Communist Party. In Munich he met Kurt Hiller, who gave him a job as assistant secretary in the Scientific-Humanitarian Committee of Magnus Hirschfeld. From 1926 he was secretary to the Scientific-Humanitarian Committee. He became an expert in sexual-scientific topics and wrote the counter-proposal to the draft of the sexual criminal law of 1927. In December 1929 Linsert left the Scientific-Humanitarian Committee and founded the Archive for Sexology with the doctors Max Hodann, Bernd Goetz and the lawyer Fritz Flato which, however, hardly achieved any importance. Nevertheless, he wrote in 1929 and 1930, together with Magnus Hirschfeld books on contraception and aphrodisiacs. In addition, he published a collection on male prostitution in 1929. In 1931 Linsert published a monograph Kabale und Liebe. His life partner was Peter Limann, the second secretary of the Scientific and Humanitarian Committee.
Linsert died on 3 February 1933 of pneumonia in Berlin.
