          Regina King's Biography

          American actress whose performance as Sharon Rivers in the 2018 film If Beale Street Could Talk earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress.
          From 2015 to 2017, King starred in the ABC anthology series American Crime, for which she received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning twice, and was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award. In 2018, she starred in the Netflix miniseries Seven Seconds, for which she won her third Emmy.
          King began her acting career in 1985, age 14, in the TV series 227. Several years later with many other credits to her name she appeared in the 1996 hit movie, The Color of Money with Tom Cruise. She played Cuba Gooding’s girl friend. She played the part of Ray Charles’ lover and back-up girl-group singer in the 2004 movie biopic Ray.
          King married Ian Alexander, Sr. on 23 April 1997 and filed for divorce on 8 November 2006. The couple had one son, Ian Alexander, Jr., born on 19 January 1996. King dated actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner from 2011 until March 2013.
