          American jazz musician. As a trombone and bass player, he worked with greats like Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, Count Basie and Charles Mingus. He can be heard on several albums, including a 1956 release featuring Dinah Washington.
          He died on October 2, 1976 in New York City.
