          Princess of Saxony Maria Carolina's Biography

          Princess of Savoy by birth, as the youngest daughter of the future King Vittorio Amedeo III of Sardinia, and his wife María Antonia Fernanda, Infanta of Spain (daughter of Philip V of Spain). She was Electoral Princess of Saxony by her 1781 marriage to Anton, Electoral Prince of Saxony.
          Her sisters included the future “grand daughters in law” of Louis XV of France, Princess Maria Giuseppina, who married the future Louis XVIII of France in 1771 and Princess Maria Teresa, wife of the future Charles X of France, married in 1773.
          Her brothers included the last three kings of Sardinia from the mainline; the future Carlo Emanuele IV, Vittorio Emanuele I and Carlo Felice.
          She was married by proxy to Anton at the Palazzina di caccia of Stupinigi on 29 September 1781 followed by another ceremony in Dresden on 24 October 1781. She died of smallpox in Dresden on 28 December 1782, aged 18.
