          Prince of Prussia (1772) Louis Ferdinand's Biography

          Prussian prince, soldier in the Napoleonic Wars, gifted musician and composer. Louis Ferdinand was a son of Prince August Ferdinand of Prussia and Elisabeth Louise of Brandenburg-Schwedt, and was a nephew of King Frederick the Great. He morganatically married the Catholic countess Marie Adelaide de la Grange. He had a son from the marriage, Theodor Friedrich Klitsche de la Grange, and an illegitimate son, Ludwig von Wildenbruch. Louis Ferdinand died on 10 October 1806 aged 33 during the Battle of Saalfeld. The 1927 German film Prinz Louis Ferdinand was a biopic of his life.
