          Polin (singer)'s Biography

French cabaret singer (“comique troupier”) and actor. Polin made his Paris debut in neighbourhood music halls (Concert de la Pépinière, 1886, Concert du Point du Jour) before performing in more important venues (Éden-Concert, Alcazar d’été).
Having become famous, he sang at the Café des Ambassadeurs and then, for twenty years, at La Scala, both in Paris. His most successful songs were recorded initially on the cylinders of the time, many of which were reissued more recently on CDs.
The cabaret singers of the next generation (Bach, Raimu, Fernande) were inspired by him. After 1910, Polin appeared in cinema and theatre, notably in Le Grand Duc by Sacha Guitry in 1921.
He died, aged 63, on 3 June 1927 in La Frette-sur-Seine, Seine-et-Oise, France.
