          Pierre Laugier's Biography

          French theatre actor, the son of Lucie Mathieu, the daughter of the astronomer Claude-Louis Mathieu and of the astronomer Paul Laugier. He won first prize for comedy at the Paris Conservatory in the class of Louis-Arsène Delaunay and in 1885 entered the Comédie-Française, before becoming its 328th member, in 1894. He appeared, among others, in Tartuffe (Orgon), L’Avare by Molière, Les Folies amoureuses (Albert) by Jean-François Regnard, Le Gendre de M. Poirier by Émile Augier and Jules Sandeau, Il ne faut jurer de rien by Alfred de Musset and Thermidor by Victorien Sardou.
          He died on 11 January 1907, aged 42, from scarlet fever. He was the grandnephew of François Arago.
