          Piem's Biography

          French artist, a satirical press cartoonist and TV chronicler, born into an aristocratic family. He created the character Turlupine, which appeared in strips in certain dailies such as L’Est Républicainand “Le Figaro”, notably in the 1970s.
          He was famous as a pipe smoker, becoming known as such to the general public through the television programs Le Petit Rapporteur (1975-1976) where Jacques Martin called him “the ancestor” when he was only 51 years old, and Le Petit Rapporteur (1977-1978).
          On 22 August 1947 he married Élisabeth Lefebvre and they had six children, including Thierry, a cartoonist known under the pseudonym Barrigue, and Christophe, a noted genealogist on the Geneanet website.
          He died in Notre-Dame-d’Oé on 12 November 2020, the day of his 97th birthday.
