British royalty, the first born son of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips and eldest grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II. Peter was born 5th in the line of succession and remained so until the birth of his cousin, Prince William, in 1982.
Phillips has a younger sister, Zara Tindall (née Phillips; born 1981), and two younger half-sisters, Felicity Tonkin (born 1985), the daughter of Mark Phillips and his former mistress Heather Tonkin; and Stephanie Phillips (born 1997), the daughter of his father’s second marriage to Sandy Pflueger.
In his youth, his rugged good looks caught the attention of the girls as he battled up for rugby or cruises in his Land Rover, pursuing his sports-loving lifestyle. He graduated from Exeter University with a degree in Sports Science in 2000, and dated an American, 25-year-old cod liver oil heiress Elizabeth Lorio, for two years. Later, he had a four-month relationship with Tara Swain, a flight attendant.
In 2003, Phillips met Autumn Kelly, a Canadian management consultant, at the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. They married on 17 May 2008 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. In February 2020, it was reported that Phillips and his wife had separated.
Their first child, and the Queen’s first great-grandchild, a daughter named Savannah Anne Kathleen, was born on 29 December 2010 at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. On 29 March 2012, the couple’s second daughter, Isla Elizabeth, was born at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
For many years Phillips has worked in the sports sponsorship and management fields.
