Paul Wiegler's Human Design Chart
6/2 Emotional Manifesting GeneratorGerman writer of works focusing on German and French literary history, as well as historical, cultural-historical and biographical essays. In his novel Das Haus an der Moldau (The House on the Vltava), the author describes the final phase and disintegration of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy using the example of a Prague lawyer. Also of importance is Paul Wiegler’s work as a translator of French classics into German.
The son of a high school teacher, he studied German philology, philosophy and history, but soon switched to journalism. He worked as an editor and theater critic in various German cities and wrote for the Berliner Tageblatt, the Prague Bohemia and the Schaubühne.
From 1913 to 1925 Wiegler was director of the novel department in the Berlin Ullstein Verlag (Publishing House). After that, he worked primarily as an essayist. Even during the Third Reich, Wiegler was able to continue publishing thanks to his neutral attitude towards the ruling regime. After the end of World War II Wiegler went to East Berlin and worked there as deputy editor of the newspaper Nacht-Express and later as a lecturer in the newly founded Aufbau-Verlag. In addition, he was one of the co-founders of the Cultural League of the GDR and the literary magazine Sinn und Form.
He died on 23 August 1949 in East Berlin, aged 70.
