          Paul Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Biography

          German chemist and industrialist who served as director of the chemical company Agfa which was founded by his father and merged into IG Farben. At IG Farben he was the plant manager and director in the newly formed division III (photo chemistry). Through “Aryanization” and persecution of the Jews by the Nazis he was forced out of the company in 1933 and went into exile in England and Switzerland. Mendelssohn Bartholdy died in Switzerland on 30 December 1956 in the canton of Basel at age 77.
