American anthropologist in the field of Andean archaeology and ethnohistory, he taught at the National American University in the USA and in Peru.
His essay, “The Chancas of Angaraes: 1450(?)–1765,” was published in Investigations of the Andean Past: Papers from the First Annual Northeast Conference on Andean Archaeology and Ethnohistory (1983). His PhD thesis was published as Below Tambrayco: The Articulation of Modes of Production in the Central Peruvian Andes (Cornell University, 1984).
