          Paul Dubrule's Biography

          French business leader, the chairman of the Accor Supervisory Board.
          With Gérard Pélisson, he was co-founder and co-chair of the Novotel hotel chain in 1963. He served as co-chairman of the Novotel chain from 1971 to 1983, then as co-chair of Accor from 1983 to 1996, and co-chairman of the Accor Supervisory Board since 1997.
          He was Mayor of Fontainebleau from 1992 to 2001, elected in Seine-et-Marne from 1999 to 2004.
          In February 2002, aged 67, he journeyed 15,272 kilometres cycling from Fontainebleau to Angkor, for the inauguration of a hotel school he funded. He related his adventure in the book “Le test du cocotier” (2003).
          In 2006, he evaded tax by leaving France to reside in Geneva, Switzerland. Subject to the Swiss tax package, as a former UMP Senator he saved the equivalent of 3.3 million Swiss francs in taxes per year, or nearly 2.3 million euros.
