          Patrick Curry's Biography

Canadian-born astrologer, author and instructor, now based in Great Britain for 40+ years. He has made cultural astrology and astronomy his area of expertise. He is the co-author of “Astrology, Science, and Culture: Pulling down the Moon” (2004) written with Roy Willis. Curry is also author of “Introducing Machiavelli (2002) and “Defending Middle Earth: Tolkien, Myth and Modernity” (1997).
In 1970, he was a student of Shunryu Suzuki, Roshi, in San Francisco. When the guru died in 1971, Curry stopped practising Buddhism. He left California in 1972 for England and began studying astrology with Liz Greene in 1974-1975. He had caught the bug from his older sister, a practising astrologer.
In 1979 he earned his master’s degree in Logic and Scientific Method at the London School of Economics and subsequently earned his PhD at University College in London. His topic of study was the history of astrology in early modern England.
His first marriage in which he had a son and stepson ended in divorce and he has a daughter born in 1990. He has long since returned to his Buddhist practice and, in 2001, took his vows as a lay Buddhist (Soto Zen).
