          Otto Schumm's Biography

          German chemist and pathologist who wrote the 1909 book Klinische Spektroskopie (Clinical Spectroscopy).
          After studying in Marburg and Hanover Schumm worked from 1898 in Hamburg-Eppendorf at the Laboratory of Medical Chemistry. Schumm received his doctorate in 1920 on the content of sugar and its determination in human blood in Hamburg under Paul Rabe. He became professor of physiological chemistry in Hamburg in 1931.
          He died on 27 December 1958 in Hamburg, aged 84.
