          Otto Schmöle's Biography

          German stage and screen actor who appeared in films mostly in supporting roles playing policemen, directors and other authority figures. In the 1955 war film Der letzte Akt (The Last Act) he played the German General Alfred Jodl.
          He made his debut in 1910 at the Theater Koblenz and then played from 1911 to 1915 at the National Theater Mannheim. From 1915 to 1918 he was a combat soldier in World War I.
          In 1919 he continued his stage career at the New Theater in Frankfurt am Main. In 1920 he moved to the Burgtheater in Vienna. From 1925 to 1938 he belonged to the ensemble of the Volkstheater, then he returned to the Burgtheater, where he remained until his death, on 12 April 1968, aged 78.
