          Nikolaus Schwarzkopf's Biography

          German writer who received the Georg Büchner Prize in 1930 for his most important work, Matthias Grünewald.
          He had been a teacher in Mainz, Neckarsteinach and Ockenheim before he settled in Darmstadt, where he spent the rest of his life trying to give his life’s work Matthias Grünewald a more mature form, wrote short stories and revised old texts.
          Nikolaus Schwarzkopf died on 17 October 1962 in Darmstadt, aged 78.
