          Nancy Teeters's Biography

          American economist who was the first woman to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Appointed by President Jimmy Carter, she served from 1978 to 1984. She was known for her public statements in which she dissented from the mainstream opinion of the Board and Chairman Paul Volcker.
          After leaving the Fed, she became director of economics at IBM, where she served until her retirement in 1990. She died on 17 November 2014, aged 84, in Stamford, Connecticut.
