          Moritz Hadda's Biography

German modernist architect working in Wroc?aw who was murdered during the genocide of Jews by the Nazis in World War II. After the Nazis came to power, his situation became difficult. Like other Jews, he was discriminated against because of his origin, and his activity was severely limited. From then on, he implemented almost exclusively projects commissioned by the Jewish community or Jewish foundations. Hadda was deported and then murdered during the first deportation of Wroc?aw Jews, which took place at the end of November 1941, and Kaunas was chosen as his destination. He was arrested in his apartment on Victoria street no. 24 (currently Lwowska Street, the house does not exist today) at 6 AM on 21 November. The transport, totaling 935 people, left Wroc?aw on 25 November (Walter Tausk and Willy Cohn were among those deported together with Hadda), and arrived in Kaunas on 29 November. On the same day, they were all murdered in the local fortress.
