Born in Mexico City, Zacarías embarked on his directing career in 1933, quickly establishing himself as a visionary with an exceptional talent for recognizing and nurturing the careers of some of Mexico’s most iconic actors, including Pedro Armendáriz in *Rosario* (1935), María Félix, Marga López, Esther Fernández, Pedro Infante, Tin Tan, Cantinflas, and Manuel Medel.

As a **Generator** in Human Design, Zacarías was inherently equipped with the ability to respond to the myriad opportunities and challenges that arose throughout his career. His **Emotional Inner Authority** played a pivotal role in guiding his decision-making process, allowing him to align closely with his creative instincts and forge deep, meaningful connections with actors and collaborators. In addition to his directorial achievements, Zacarías co-founded the production company Latino Films with his brother after returning to Mexico in 1932, where he produced, directed, and edited *Sobre las Olas*. His innovative directing method, which involved recording screenplays in advance, allowed him to work efficiently with actors and refine their performances. His collaborations with notable figures such as Mario Moreno Cantinflas, Emilio Azcárraga Vidaurreta, and Howard Hughes were instrumental in the establishment of Los Estudios Churubusco, a cornerstone of Mexican cinema.

Despite his extensive contributions to film, Zacarías always identified primarily as a writer. His literary output includes approximately 130 novels, 250 short stories, 27 theatrical works, poetry, and essays that delve into philosophy and politics. He even composed a ballet titled *La Princesa Europea*. His achievements were recognized with the prestigious Gold Ariel award in 1993 at the XXXV Ceremonia de Entrega del Ariel, and he received the Salvador Toscano Medal in 2001.

Zacarías’s legacy continues through his family, with his son Alfredo Zacarias following in his footsteps as a film director and his granddaughter Karen Zacarias achieving recognition as a playwright. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 20, 2006, at the age of 101 in Cuernavaca, Morelos, due to heart failure.
